The Foundation is a private, non-profit (501 c 3) corporation established in 2002 by Danny Smalley, the father of Danielle Dawn Smalley who was killed in a pipeline explosion in Kaufman County, Texas in 1996. The Foundation is located in Crandall, Texas, a small community 25 miles outside of Dallas. The initial goal of the Foundation was to educate and train rural firefighters in pipeline emergency protocols. The success of that initiative allowed the Foundation to expand its outreach efforts to include all traditional first responders (firefighters, county emergency response organizations, law enforcement officials, etc.); local, county, state, and federal agencies ; emergency response organizations; civic groups; excavators; and school officials and school systems. The Foundation is committed to partnering with energy and pipeline companies to conduct public awareness programs and training to enhance industry compliance and increase safety around pipelines. |
